Hopkins business owner Tim Arndt dies at age 66

Timothy Lee Arndt, age 66, of Hopkins, died Saturday July 28, in Grand Rapids, leaving behind a legacy of ingenuity, dedication and love.

Born on April 10, 1958, to Lavern and Virginia (Knobloch) Arndt, Timothy was a lifelong resident of Michigan and a pillar of his community.

Known as Tim to friends and family, was a man who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. His work ethic was outstanding as evidenced by his successful tenure as the owner of Chuck’s Excavating for two decades.

Tim’s love for moving dirt and asphalt as a truck driver was more than just a job; it was a passion he carried with him every day. His hands were rarely clean, always tinkering with something, especially his beloved Simplicity lawn mowers.

Tim’s creativity and handiness were traits that not only defined his career but also enriched the lives of those around him.

Beyond his professional life, Tim was a lover of classic rock, a genre that often served as the soundtrack to the many moments he spent with his family.

Tim is survived by his sons, Tim, Dan, David, and Tyler Arndt, who will carry on his legacy of hard work and innovation; his brother, Lon (Dawn) Arndt, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Virginia Arndt; siblings, Lori Arndt, Jamie Arndt, and Tamara Delp.
