Hopkins firefighters were battling a garage fire Monday in the downtown portion of the village. West Main Street was closed for several hours in the morning while Hopkins Area Fire Department members handled the blaze. Motorists were advised not to come into town from the west on 128th Avenue and instead should take 130th Avenue to 22nd and head south or go around and come in from the east.
