Both the Hopkins boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams took first place in the George Dales Invitational Friday at the Prairies Golf Club near the Kal-Haven Trail Park.
The Lady Vikings checked in with 29 points to easily defeat Union City, Constantine and Grand River Prep.
The Hopkins guys won with 39 points, with Grand River Prep within striking distance at 50.
Jack Estelle again paced the Viking boys with a second-place finish in 17:11. Teammate Kash Moored was third in 17:12, freshman Grady Johnston ninth in 19:15, junior Gavin Schans 11th in 19:35.8 and Nicholas Jablonski rounded out the scoring in 14th,
Junior Lillian Dewey led the Viking girls, finishing third in 22:01, freshman Izabella Jordan was fourth, senior Allison Breining fifth, senior Grace Schumacher eighth and freshman Lachlan Merren ninth.
