Hopkins grad Mason Hoskinson, 39, loses battle with cancer

Mason Jam5096647_300x300es Hoskinson died at his home Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was only 39.

Mason was born Oct. 30, 1975, in Allegan. He was a graduate of Hopkins High School, Class of 1994. He worked for Sebright Products for many years, beginning at age 15, and for Seimens/Evoqua in Holland for eight years.

Mason was described by friends and family as a generous person, avid movie watcher and could quote hundreds of movie quips for almost any scenario to make you laugh. He had a love for food and for cooking. Mason loved his dogs, which were a real comfort to him.

Surviving are his fianceé, Renee Fris; stepson, Cody Heasley; step-daughter, Megan Heasley; step-granddaughter, Lillianna, all in the Holland, MI area; his mother and father, Melodie and Jim Davis of Dorr; his fianceé’s father and step-mother, Phil and Phyllis Fris, Hamilton; sisters, Jennifer (Ron) Beckett, Lisle, IL, Tara Davis (Steve Schweitzer), Dorr; brother, CodyJames (Mahea) Davis, Dorr,; grandmother, Betty Jeffries, Allegan; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Hoskinson and grandparents, Robert Jeffries, Bill and Adeline Miller.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.9, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services, 4330 18th Ave. in Dorr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Services in Dorr, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. At the funeral home, following the service, there will be a light dessert reception.
