
Four more Athletic Hall of Fame inductees will be honored Saturday afternoon, Jan. 31, at Hopkins High School between the girls’ and boys’ basketball games. The ceremony is a makeup of the postponed events from Friday, Jan. 23.
Hopkins each year has been recognizing new members of the hall since 2016, when a special panel was created to select honorees.
The four alums selected this year are Kelly Reynolds, Ben Gregg, Callie Brower Olszewski and Tony Krcatovich.
- A 1992 graduate, Kelly Reynolds held the single-game scoring record in basketball with 44 points, which was eclipsed by Tim Kisner with 45, and he nailed a school record 74 three-point shots in one season. He scored 1,075 points in his career. In football, he was the quarterback of Hopkins’ first-ever team to reach the state finals at the Pontiac Silverdome.
- Callie Brower Olszewski earned her spot on the Wall of Fame mostly through her exploits in girls’ track and basketball. She was the Vikings’ top scorer and rebounder in hoops and was all-confererence three times. She set two records in track.
- Ben Bregg was best known for his efforts as a running back in football and in track. He was selected as an all-state running back in 2010 by the Associated Press and he placed fifth in the state track meet in the 200-mtyer dash. He also earned all-conference accolades in the O-K Silver in football and track.
- Tony Krcatovich has been associated heavily of late with youth soccer and Rocket football programs in the community.
