Katie Brinker who was hired as new director of the Hopkins District Library last January, has resigned her post and is moving to the east side of the state.

A representative of the Hopkins District Library Board told the Watson Township Board the news Thursday night.

The founder and managing director of “Parenting by the Book” and former program coordinator at Schoolcraft Library, Brinker and her husband, Malcolm, have a daughter. She declined the offer to take over the Dorr Library and concentrate on Hopkins alone.

She succeeded Elyshia Schafer Hoekstra, who took the director’s post at the Coopersville Library a year ago.
