A 24-year-old Hopkins man was listed in fair condition at an area hospital Saturday after being injured in a farming accident near Hudsonville.

Authorities have reported Jacob Elzinga was operating a boom and loading feed into a silo when the boom struck power lines he was shocked by electric current. Emergency personnel said the victim was alert while being taken to the hospital and he suffered burns to his body.

The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of 56th Avenue in Zeeland Township at Nykamp Trucking & Excavating.

The Zeeland Township Fire Department said the victim was taken from the scene in an ambulance.
