Hopkins man killed in weather-related SUV rollover

A 32-year-old Hopkins man reportedly was killed Sunday afternoon in a rollover crash in Hopkins Township.

Troopers from the Wayland post of the Michigan State Police said the crash occurred at about 3:40 p.m. on 20th Street south of 128th Avenue, east of Hopkins. Authorities indicated the driver lost control of his SUV, which left the road, rolled and hit a tree. They said the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Police did not release the driver’s name, but said he was alone at the time of the crash.

Dispatchers from all over West Michigan counties said public safety crews were responding to weather-related crashes numbering in the hundreds altogether.
