Each class at Hopkins High School and Middle School now will be equipped with a “go bucket” to provide everything needed in case of an extended lockdown in emergency situations.

The buckets will act as a toilet for the class if they are in a lockdown since the high school and middle school do not have rooms with restrooms (the elementary rooms will get “go bags”). The buckets also hold essential items such as medical supplies, toilet paper, a curtain, water, a small snack, a classroom list with parent contact, as well as tools such as flashlights, batteries, rope to tie the doors closed, and many other items.

“While we hope we never have to use them, ‘go buckets’ will be placed in each learning space, office, and administrative area and can be utilized to help save lives in the event of a violent critical incident,” said Superintendent Gary Wood.
