Hopkins Schools Superintendent Gary Wood is one of six finalists for the superintendent’s post at Hudsonville.

The candidates, who will be interviewed Monday and Tuesday, March 5 and 6, are seeking to succeed Nick Ceglarek, who has been at Hudsonville for eight years, but will leave at the end of the academic year to become superintendent of the Traverse Bay Intermediate School District.

The Hudsonville Board of Education wants to have its new school chief on board by July 1.

A second-round of interviews are scheduled for March 12 and/or March 13.

The other five finalists are Hudsonville assistant Superintendent Scott Smith; Douglas VanderJagt, assistant superintendent of human resources at Rockford Public Schools; Peter Bush, superintendent of Coloma Community Schools, and Thomas Livezey, superintendent of Muskegon Oakridge Public Schools

Wood came to Hopkins in the spring of 2014 after being superintendent of Mio AuSable Schools, succeeding Chris Stephens. He had been the Mio superintendent since 2010.
