Hungry Howie’s Pizza in Wayland got more than it bargained for Monday when it took part in the pizza chain’s “Leap 29” promotion. The company offered customers a 29-cent large pizza with one topping if they they bought a large pizza at a regular price. The local eatery was swamped by bargain hunters who showed up to pack the small facility like sardines while awaiting their food basked by frantic workers trying to keep up with demand. More than a few customers reported they called in or ordered on line a sizeable amount of time before stopping in to pick up pizzas but still had to wait as along as a half hour to 45 minutes.
