Jedidiah Smith of Hopkins dies at age 29

Jedidiah Daniel Smith, 29 of Hopkins, died Thursday, Dec. 14.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1988, the son of the late Fredrick Douglas and Michelle Lee (LaCourse) Smith. After his parents passed, Jedidiah and his brothers went to live with his grandparents, Lyle and Zada LaCourse, who raised them.
Spare time for Jedidiah was spent hunting or enjoying time with his nephews, usually taking them to the zoo or goofing around, making great memories together. Spending time with his Uncle Jeff was one of his favorite pastimes. The two of them shared a special bond and Jedidiah always looked to his uncle for guidance
The Christmas season was always a favorite time for Jedidiah – other than dealing with the cold weather.

Jedidiah leaves behind his grandmother, Zada LaCourse; his brothers, Jacob (Vicky) Smith and Daniel Smith; his nephews, Landen Fredrick Smith and Aidan Andrew Smith; and many aunts, uncles and friends.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandfather, Lyle LaCourse.

Friends may meet with the family from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jedidiah’s name to Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) or the Wounded Warrior Project. Interment at Miner Cemetery, Watson Township.
