The City of Wayland is accepting applications to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Wayland City Council.

Councilwoman Tracy Bivins last month announced she is resigning her seat, effective June 18.

Any persons interested in being appointed to fill the remainder of Bivins’ term may do so by completing a Board/Commission Appointment form found at  http://cityofwayland.org/Portals/1004/forms/Board_Commission_Application.pdf

Retired Wayland school teacher and coach Jeff Salisbury, a local resident since 1985 has announced he has submitted an application. Salisbury is a one-time city council appointee, as well as a former planning commissioner, Henika Library Board of Directors member and trustee on the Wayland Board of Education. Wayland Union school board trustee.

The vacancy will exist until the general election Nov. 6, at which time a council member will be elected for a full, two-year term. The other two open council seats are held by Tim Rose and John Sloan. Mayor Tim Bala’s post also will be up for re-election.
