Keith Button to have military honors at funeral

Keith Arby Button of Hopkins died Thursday, Sept. 4, in the privacy of his home in Martin. He was 92.

Keith was born to his late parents Arby and Beatrice (Shaw) Button on May 12, 1933, in Hopkins, He graduated high school and join the Army serving during the Korean War Conflict, attaining the rank of corporal as a cook.

After serving honorably in the Army, he would marry Mary Lou (Wangler) Button and share decades of love and devotion with one another. Keith was a well-respected mechanic and worked for Alflen and Sons Equipment for years before retiring.

In his retirement, spending time mowing his grass and making the lawn look pristine brought him peace. When he wasn’t working on the yard, he spent time hunting and fishing all over Southwest Michigan, Canada and the Upper Peninsula.

He is survived by his children, Robert Lee Button and Kathleen Myaard; sister Elaine (Timothy) McBride, and sister in-law Gloria Button; grandchildren Jason (Brandi) Myaard, Sarah Myaard, Rachel (Ryan) Gates, Kate (Jeremy) Lund, and Eric (Shelby) Myaard; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in passing by his wife Mary Lou (Wangler) Button; parents Arby and Beatrice (Shaw) Button; son in-law Dale Myaard and daughter Peggy Kay Moore.

Keith’s memorial service will start at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, with military Army honors before at noon, at Hopkins Community Church 2142 128th Avenue, Hopkins.
