Shirley Mae Shirley Mae Bieber, age 89, of Byron Center died Sunday May 29, at the Oaks of Byron Center Nursing Facility where she resided for the past 17 months due to complications from Covid-19.

She had a long and fulfilling career as a wife, mother, homemaker, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and overall matriarch to her family.

She is survived by her children: Linda and Mel Schumacher, Michael and Jamee Bieber, Ronald and Patti Bieber, Joan and Craig Van Ham, daughter-in- law Barbara Bieber; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved cat, Smokey, whom she rescued as a kitten and in exchange provided her with endless hours of love, entertainment, and affection in return.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years of marriage, Owen; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Judy Bieber; her father, John VanWoerkom; mother, Josephine Fein and John Fein; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Stan Sukstas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. A luncheon will follow mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, as well as on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church
