Though the Hopkins girls’ basketball team has been on a roll now for nearly a month, it still as yet has been unable to dethrone Grandville Calvin Christian for the league title.
The Lady Vikings haven’t lost since Jan. 6, a 64-57 verdict to the Squires in an O-K Silver Conference matchup. They play Calvin Christian for the second time Tuesday night, with revenge and a share of the league title on their minds.
Hopkins most recently defeated Silver opponents NorthPointe Christian 46-28 Friday night and Belding 61-40 Saturday afternoon. So now its league record is 6-1 and if it can get past the Squires Tuesday night, it will be in an excellent position to win a share of the crown.
The victory over Belding Saturday afternoon was a makeup of the game that had to be postponed Jan. 23 because of inclement weather. So Hopkins now owns an overall record of 9-3.
Saturday’s game also included a ceremony recognizing the four newest members of the Hopkins Athletic Hall of Fame — Kelly Reynolds, Ben Gregg, Callie Brower Olszewski and Tony Krcatovich.
