Larry Alan Stirdivant of Dorr died Nov. 28 of complications from Covid-19. He was 73.

Born May 17, 1947, he served with Marines in the Vietnam Conflict.

Larry attended Godwin Heights High School. He was a veteran Marine Corporal who proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a radio operator. He received two purple hearts during his service. Larry was also a part of the recovery mission of Apollo 7.

Larry was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He enjoyed helping his sons and friends with their projects. He loved to make people laugh and enjoyed camping, his pontoon boat, drag racing, golfing and spending weekends in the backyard with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, three sons, Charles (Erin), Larry Stirdivant, Jr., and Thomas (Naomi), three grandchildren Sophia, Ava, and Emilia, brother Raymond Stirdivant, and nieces Doreen Shults, Debra Flagg, and Brenda Edses. Proceeding Larry in death were his parents Doris and Charles Stirdivant, sisters Char Swan and Carol (Jerry) Ronk, and niece Lori Ronk.

Burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. The family will hold services and a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choosing
