Delores “Laurie” Ardel Trutsch, died Friday, Sept. 27, at the age of 78 due to various complications.

She managed a restaurant, opened a gift shop, worked as a teacher’s aide, and at the age when most people are thinking of retiring became a licensed realtor.During her years working at Wayland Union Schools she assisted students with learning  disabilities.

She was a bundle of energy who was constantly on the move. No garage sale was safe from her exceptional bargain hunting skills. She was constantly donating her time, or her limited financial resources to help family, friends, strangers.

At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by love and was with her best friend/ boyfriend/ husband of 59 years, Al Trutsch, her children, and grandchildren. In her last days she spent a good deal of time on an oxygen mask, and even short of breath she found opportunities to talk about them, how proud she was, and how much she loved them.

Surviving are her husband Edward Allen “Al” Trutsch, son Scott, daughter Karen Monterusso (Tom) daughter Susanne Boyd (Pete), daughter Heidi Wolf (Tom), grandkids/great grandkids Jodi (Joshua), Henry, Allen, Katelyn Johnson, Jacquelyn (Doug), Lincoln Wakley, Julie (Martin), Maci, Oscar, Rozalyn Gomez, Jonathon (Amie), Jack Schumaker, Holly (Jeremiah), Peter, Tessa, Cecilia Van der puyl , Noah Boyd, Margaret (Anthony), Danika Slavich, Sadie Boyd, Brian Wolf, Caroline Wolf.

A service celebrating Laurie’s life will be held at 11 am Friday, Oct. 18, at First Congregational Church of Allegan, 323 Cutler St, with Pastor Barry Lucas officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 Main St. Wayland and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Congregation Kitchen at First Congregational Church of Allegan.
