The Leighton Township Board Thursday night approved paying a $62,000 bill for its share of the cost for paving 146th Avenue from Division to Kalamazoo Avenue.

Supervisor Steve Deer said the project would cover about 2.45 miles on the east-west road, which is about as far north in Allegan County as a motorist can get.

“The word is that they (the Allegan County Road Commission) want to do it very soon,” even perhaps as early as next month.
