LaVerne Otto Lussenden, 86 of Hopkins, died Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Allegan County Medical Care Community.
Born Dec. 30, 1932, in Barry County, he was the son of the late Wayne and Rosetta (Finkbeiner) Lussenden and the husband of the late Joyce (Miller) Lussenden.
Vern, as most people knew him, spent his life serving Christ as a pastor for more than 30 years. He was also involved with the Friend of the Court (FOC) for about 20 years and served as the Hopkins Township Clerk. His community meant a great deal to him and he was committed to the people in Hopkins.
He and his late wife, Joyce, were active members of the Church of Christ Church in Bradley.
Vern is survived by his children, Rick (Kathy) Lussenden, Cindi Sebring (Bill Kingsley), Cathy (Jesse) Treece and Carol (Ted) Lee; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Wayne and Rosetta, and his wife, Joyce, he was preceded in death by three children, Daniel, Wayne and Brenda; and one brother, Delbert Lussenden.
Friends may meet with the family at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Adam Porter officiating. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Township.
