Longtime Salem Township farmer ‘Skip’ Lenard dies at 78

Lela577b99c582149nd “Skip” Lenard, age 78, of Salem Township, died Sunday July 3.

Skip served in the U.S Navy. He retired after 41 years as a switchman for Conrail Railroad. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed his time outdoors.

Skip is survived by his wife Mary Lou Lenard; his children: Renee (Larry) Wilson, Lenny Lenard (Tammy Maat), Lorrie (Rick) Jones, and Lisa (Wade) Weber; his grandchildren: Joe (Heather) Lenard, Jena (Nolan) Correll, Stephanie Lenard, Ben Lenard (Emily Sexton), Brian Weber, Cody Weber, Lacey Wilson, and Lexie Wilson; his great-grandchildren: Brody, Maci, and Hannah Correll, Layton and Madison Lenard; his brother Ronald (Janet) Lenard; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mary Lenard, his son Rick Lenard, and his brother and sisters: Kenneth Lenard, June Norman, Ruth Hilaski, and Donna Graczyk.

Friends may visit with his family from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. p.m. Thursday, July 7,  with a 6 PM Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Cemetery with military honors.

In memory of Skip, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Visitation Church or the Hopkins FFA Barn Fund.
