John Stamm Jr., age 84, of Wayland, died Tuesday, May 26.

John was the longtime owner of Stamm Equipment Co. in Wayland. John and wife Betty enjoyed traveling across the country, attending auctions. He was a member of the Michigan Auctioneers Association and was inducted into the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame in Prairieville.

His other interests included cruises, country music, and stopping by casinos

He is survived by Betty, his spouse of 62 years; daughters Norma (Roger) French, Marge (Bob) Genther, and Sheri (Tony) Carpenter; four grandchildren Rachel Hall, Phillip (Sarah) Rasnake, Michael (Michelle) Rasnake, LeeAnna Pekel; 15 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings Klasiena VanDenburg, and Rose (Bill) Scobey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, including JR Sims, loved by John like a son.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Izola Stamm; and brother-in-law, Ken VanDenburg.

A memorial visitation will be held at a later time.

In honor of John and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
