Paul Manning, 87 of Allegan, died Saturday, March 2, at the Allegan County Medical Care Community.

He was born on April 3, 1931, in Wayland, the son of the late George and Hazel (Thompson) Manning. After graduation from Wayland High School in 1949, he served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He began his career in banking at the Allegan State Bank and retired from banking in Aurora, Ill.

Paul was active in the American Legion Post 89 and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with fishing and golfing.

Paul is survived by his partner, Carol, his three daughters, Paula, Patti and Jenny (Paul) Earl; his grandchildren Josh (Amy) Gillons, Matt Gillons, Katie (Josh) Walsh, Megan (Andrew) and Carly Earl; great-grandchildren Jordyn, Masyn, Braeleigh, Kylie, Hannah and Jameson along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Carole (Peters) Manning, and his brother, Bill Manning.

Cremation has taken place. In celebration of Paul’s life, the family invites friends to join them for a memorial luncheon at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the VFW in Wayland, 735 S. Main St . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul’s name to Wings of Hope Hospice (530 Linn Street, Allegan, MI 49010).
