Two men were killed and another arrested in Orangeville Township Friday afternoon in a shooting near Lewis and Lindsey roads about six-and-a-half miles east of Martin, a few miles south of Gun Lake.
Barry County Sheriff’s authorities said passersby found man lying in a ditch and bleeding alongside the road when another man brandishing a pink handgun approached them and ordered them to leave.
The passersby immediately called 911 and deputies reported they had arrested the suspect.
Sheriff Dar Leaf said one other person was killed in a home, another along a roadway.
Authorities have reported that 21-year-old Bryce DeGood of Haslett Township was the deceased victim at the side of the roadway due to a gunshot wound. The other, found dead of a gunshot wound at a nearby residence, was 73-year-old Gary Peake of Plainwell.
The name of the suspect will not be released until after he is arraigned in Barry County District Court.
Leaf said also may have been shot at and authorities are trying to learn how the people involved may be connected. There was no preliminary indication about motive.
Michigan State Police from the Wayland post have been called in to help with the investigation.
