Man sought in Byron Center Huntington Bank robbery

Kent County Sheriff’s authorities are looking for a man who robbed the Huntington Bank in downtown Byron Center at gunpoint Friday afternoon.

Police said the robbery occurred at about 1:16 p.m. Friday at the bank, on the northeast corner of 84th Street and Byron Center Avenue. The address is 2365 84th St.

Deputies said the man demanded money while pointing a gun at a bank teller. He was reported to have left the scene on a bicycle before he got into a burgundy colored Pacifica SUV driven by an unknown motorist.

Authorities are examining surveillance images, which showed the suspect wearing a dark coat, dark gloves, khaki shorts and a black and white hat while carrying a gun. It hasn’t been determined how much was taken in the robbery.

Kent County authorities appreciate any help from the public in identifying the suspect and gathering information. Huntington Bank is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to capture, arrest and conviction.
