
A man accused of recklessly firing a gun in Dorr Township was able to elude authorities Friday.
Allegan County Sheriff’s deputies said they were summoned to a home on 21st Street near 142nd Avenue after receiving a report that Brandon Arlan Ras-Devries recklessly discharging a firearm on the property.
Ras-Devries, 26, was able to escape the home and property before deputies arrived at the scene. Ras-Devries has multiple warrants for his arrest.
Deputies say they searched for Ras-Devries, establishing a perimeter and bringing in a police dog, but did not find him.
The sheriff’s office says it does not believe Ras-Devries is a threat to the public, but anyone who knows where he may beis asked to contact dispatch at 269.673.3899. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, yellow baseball cap and blue jeans.
Sycamore Elementary, which is located in the area, temporarily went into “soft lockdown,” a precautionary measure during which school can continue inside the building, according to a message sent to community members. There was no threat to the school or its occupants, leaders emphasized, and the lockdown has since been lifted.
