A 22-year-old woman fr
om the Martin was killed in a traffic crash Tuesday evening on M-222 near 19th Street in Watson Township.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Wayland Post said the woman, who has not yet been identified, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Witnesses to the crash reported seeing the driver using her cell phone prior to the crash and said the driver was swerving all over the roadway. The vehicle appeared to have run off of the right side of the road and lost control causing the vehicle to roll over several times.
It’s believed the driver was wearing her seat belt but was still ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Allegan County Sheriff Department, Wayland EMS and the Hopkins Township Fire Department.
