Pat McLaughlin died Wednesday, June 29, at his home in Martin just one day shy of his 84th birthday.

He was born June 30, 1938, in Lake Odessa, the son of Paul and Mabel (Weber) McLaughlin. He served his country in the U.S. Army and worked at Eaton for almost 20 years, as a heavy equipment operator at Carl Goodwin & Sons and was transportation supervisor at AAESA.

Pat loved following the Martin Clippers sports teams and had called many games over the years. He helped to start the rocket football program and coached track and basketball. Pat was always willing to help where ever he was needed.

He was a past president and member of the Martin Lions and Martin School Board. He enjoyed calling bingo for the Lions and was vital in the program’s success. On July 4, 1990, in Las Vegas, he married Mary Shipley-Ayers, who passed away in 2017.

Surviving are his sons, Bill (Kris) McLaughlin of Allegan and Bob McLaughlin of Martin; step-daughters, Kelley (Rick) DePauw and Lisa McBride; grandson, Kent (Lydia) McLaughlin and siblings, Barney (Carol) McLaughlin and Terry Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Mike.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.

Friends may meet with Pat’s family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.
