The Martin girls’ varsity cross-country teams took 16th in a field of 27 teams Friday at the Michigan State University Invitational.

The Lady Clippers accumulated 395 points for the meet, which was won by Jackson Lumen Christi with 55 and runner-up Benzie Central had 71.

Sophomore ace Veyda Conley again paced the Martin girls squad with a time of 21:10.5, good for 11th place.

Freshman Allison Rodgers checked in 77th, freshman DuRae Sage was 101st, senior Emily King was 125th and sophomore Kayden Jager 137th.

The Martin boys came in 28th in a 35-team field that include Division 3 schools. They finished with 702 team points. 

Jackson Lumen Christi was the winners with 50 points and Ithaca was second.

Senior Alex Morin was the first Clipper to cross the finish line, in 19:36.4 for 85th place. He was followed by sophomore Jadon Dettmann 137th, freshman Jeremiah VanHouten 176th, sophomore Hunter Hayes 192nd and sophomore Gari Salvador-Garcia 237th.
