The Martin girls’ cross-country team Wednesday afternoon took fourth place among 13 teams in the Southwest Michigan Rustbuster Invitational near Grand Junction in southern Allegan County.
The Lady Clippers scored 99 team points, finishing behind Gobles with 74, Plainwell and Vicksburg.
As usual, junior ace harrier Veyda Conley led Martin runners with a third-place finish in 19:30.4, once again eclipsing the 20-minute barrier for 5,000-meter races.
Allison Rodgers took 19th place, Sara Schipper 22nd, Riley Bender 26th and DuRae Sage 29th.
The Clipper boys’ squad checked in 12th place in the invitational.
Jadon Dettman paced Martin by finishing 36th in 19:01.6, followed by Hunter Hayes in 47th, Gary Salvador-Garcia 60th, Lance Kaylor 70th and Logan Tenbrink 85th.
Though Martin usually competes against fellow Division 4 schools, it was up against Division 2 opponents, including Mattawan, Vicksburg, Plainwell and South Haven.
