Eddie Oetman, age 81, died Wednesday, June 9, at Vicinia Gardens.

Eddie was born on Nov. 14, 1939, in Martin to Richard and Ruth (Edwards) Oetman. Eddie lived for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed farming and was an active member of the United Methodist Church. He lived to help make others safe by being on two different fire departments totaling 55 years of his life.

Eddie is survived by his children, Michael Oetman and Pauline Collier; three grandchildren: Mandie (Dillon) Thomas, Katie (Chris) Lake and Trevor (Heather) Collier; three great grandchildren: Blaine, Braxton, and Kinzlee; his siblings: Cathy and Bill; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Eddie was preceded in death by wife of 55 years: Rita; his parents; and siblings Mary Jean, JoAn, and Eileen.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Medical Team Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
