There Martin Area Resource Center received extra food donations through an anonymous source Saturday, obviously a response to the current crisis with the SNAP program and the federal government shutdown.
Resource Center Coordinator Harvey Visser posted today on Facebook, “A Fed Ex truck pulled into the driveway of the Martin Area Resource Center today. I watched the driver unload three boxes, two that were heavy.
“As he came up the sidewalk to our house, I told him I had not ordered anything from Costco (the name on the boxes) He assured me that it was supposed to come into the house. He was very considerate and hauled the boxes into our kitchen.
“After he drove away – I opened the boxes after checking that they were addressed to the resource center. FOOD! Lots of food – all kinds and variety of food!
“I have no way of knowing who performed this act of kindness and compassion…but we want to thank you, whoever you are. The scriptures assure us that God can make good out of bad. The hunger of many have been brought to people’s attention through an impasse in our government. And people have taken this moment to follow Christ’s command to feed the hungry. Thank you!”
