The Martin Public School system has announced that its opening day has been moved back to Tuesday, Sept. 8, for a full day.

Martin was scheduled to open Monday, Aug. 31, but Supt. Brooke Ballee-Stone said the move was for safety reasons. She explained that some Covid-19 fighting materials, such as hand sanitizer, has not been received as yet.

The superintendent said the move will result in Wednesday, Sept. 9, being a full rather than half day of instruction.

Martin has chosen to have school five days a week in-person.
