The National Junior Angus Show Herdpick for the month of May is Blake Pillars of Martin.

Blake is a freshman at Martin High, where he is the class president and plays junior varsity football.

Pillars first attended the National Junior Angus Show in Indianapolis, where his fondest memory was helping a junior member show her cow/calf pair and walking on the green shavings.

“My proudest accomplishment thus far has been showing my very own bred and owned heifer at the NJAS held in Grand Island, Nebraska,” he said. “The excitement gave me goose bumps.”

In the future, Pillars would like to participate in collegiate livestock judging and continue building his Angus herd.
