The Martin Township Board Wednesday evening agreed to effect a partial termination of Public Act 116 designation for Daybreak Foods Inc.
The township has such an agreement that now will release four acres out of PA 116, which enables entities to protect agricultural land parcels with government support. However, in this case, Wolverine Power will set aside four acres to pave the way for construction of a substation because the cutest is getting to be too small.
Elizabeth Hill, representing Wolverine Power, was in attendance at the meeting, said the move will make the area more secure
In other business Wednesday, the Township Board:
- Agreed to participate in the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS), a cooperative, statewide mutual aid system for fire, EMS, and specialized emergency response teams.
- Agreed to pay Wickham Cemetery LLC for repairs the firm made in the old East Cemetery.
- Approved a request to set $20 an hour as the pay for the firefighters and officers.
- Learned that the busy fire and rescue department has handled 308 calls thus far this year.
