Martin trio gets Outstanding People for Education honor

by Austin Marsman

Three Martin Public School employees were honored with the Outstanding People for Education Award, according to the Superintendent’s Office.

Elementary Librarian Kelly Jager, along with fourth grade teacher Brad Blauvelt and special education teacher Katie Castora were chosen as this year’s recipients.

Martin Superintendent David Harnish wrote, “Thank you all for your selflessness, dedication, and support of Martin Public Schools”.

The trio was recognized at a June 20 ceremony at Plainwell Community Schools.

I’m so pleased to see a school librarian get recognized for her educational achievements. School librarians are subject to financial restrictions and time constraints that public librarians are not, so their jobs can be so much more difficult in terms of how well they can serve the children who are their educational charges. Kudos, especially, to Kelly Jager and the people who recognized her contributions to Martin kids. Congratulations to all three!
