So it was Lori Castello to the rescue.

The assistant at Professional Code Inspections of Dorr earlier this month gave Martin Township Supervisor Glenn Leep a complete list of recent inspections and progress report on violations.

Leep last month had complained to his colleagues that too often he did not know what was happening with residents and businesses that had been cited for violations of the local zoning ordinance and he wondered out loud why PCI seemed too busy to communicate.

The supervisor Wednesday night happily said that after he got in touch with Castello, she presented him with virtually all the information he wanted.

Castello joined PCI not long ago because Kirk Scharphorn and the inspection firm has been getting busier all the time and has entered into planning services for area municipalities. She was chairwoman of the Hopkins Township Planning Commission before coming board at PCI.

In other business at Martin Township’s meeting Wednesday evening, the board:

• Accepted the low bid from Nightway for snow plowing and salting the parking lots at the township hall and library, at $40 per incident and $40 per salting.

• Learned from Clerk Rachelle Smit that only 112 people showed up at the polls in Tuesday’s election, but 92 mailed in absentee ballots. Martin had only an 18-mill renewal on the ballot for non-homestead properties in the local school district.

• Agreed to spend $200 on Christmas lights around the township hall for the upcoming holiday season.
