Authorities hState Police logoave identified the driver of the SUV who was killed in a crash on M-222 in Watson Township Tuesday night as Ashley Marie Pallett, 22, of Martin.

Michigan State Police from the Wayland post reported that witnesses said Pallett had been talking on a cell phone just before her Jeep Cherokee left the road, rolled over and crashed on M-222 near 19th Street. She died at the scene.

Witnesses told troopers the Jeep was swerving all over the roadway and appeared to have run off of the right side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll over several times.

Police believe the driver was wearing her seat belt, but was still ejected from the vehicle.

When is the state of Michigan going to wise up and outlaw using a cell phone while driving? How many have to perish? How many? Illinois has a hands free law when using a cell while driving and I still think that's a major distraction. Families of these people need to start advocating for this law! HOW FRICKIN' MANY????
