
Frances Pauline Walker, age 82, of Grand Rapids, died Tuesday, March 25.
Frances was born to Henry and Bernice Walker on Oct. 11, 1942, in Salem Township. She grew up in Western Michigan and attended church and grade school at St. Mary’s, New Salem. She graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School in 1960.
Upon graduation she moved to Eastern Michigan where she lived and worked for many years. In the 1990s she returned to Western Michigan to live, working and eventually retiring from Irwin Seating Company.
She was an active member of St. Alphonsus Parish, Grand Rapids, and was a member of the Franciscan Fraternity for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and visiting and playing cards with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry L. and Bernice Walker; brothers, Harry, (Phyllis) Walker, Roger (Marilyn) Walker, John Walker; sisters, Mary Lou (Vernon) Alflen, Rosemarie (Donald) Saladin, Jacqueline (Frank) Trubiroha, Shirley (Sylvester) Gulch, and Madelyn (David) Meinke.
She is survived by her sisters, Trudy (Dennis) Corbett, Diane Walker, Suzanne Embree; sister in law, Beverly Walker; special long time friends; Martha Venable, Elaine (Sadler) Corey; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW, with Rev. Stephen Durkee officiating. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may meet one hour prior to the mass on Tuesday, April 1 Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Interim Hospice or Grand Brook Memory Care.
