Steve Shelley Sr., age 70, died Friday, July 9.

Steve graduated from Wayland Union High School in 1969 and attended Ferris State University. He was a professional cook. Steve worked for Rowe International for 30 plus years and spent the last few years enjoying retirement with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Shelley; children Chrisy (Matt) Kuhl, Cindy (Rick) Mathis, Steven Shelley II, Carrie (Kevin) Shelley-Bala; grandchildren Evie and Peyton Mathis; siblings Frank (Kary) Cinder, Linda (Randy) Mankin, Frank (Connie) Taylor, Laura Taylor, Bob (Wendy) Taylor, Bob (Wendy) Taylor; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola VanDam; brother, Wayne VanDam; in-laws Frank Taylor Sr., Tom Taylor; aunt, Evelyn Schusta-Cinder; nephew, Tim Mankin.

Visitation with relatives and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 16 at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St. Wayland. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St., Wayland.
