Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday for Julia Pavlak, 101

Julia (Arbanas) Pavlak of Hopkins, died Saturday, March 12, at Sheldon Meadows Assisted Living. She was 101 years old.

6020519_300x300_1Julia was born in Crested Butte, Colo., on Nov. 6, 1914, and was the last surviving of the 15 children of Matt and Anna (Kovacich) Arbanas. She was a gracious host and always had some of her delicious baked goods to share with those who stopped by.

Julia is survived by her children: Janet Pavlak Roblyer, Bill and Laura Pavlak, Teri and Tim Dimock, Mike and C. Lee Pavlak, Scott and Chris Pavlak, and daughter-in-law Janet Pavlak. Julia leaves a legacy of 41 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and other dear family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emil Pavlak in 1977 and her children: Patricia, Dennis, Tom, Juliann, Randy; and in-laws Keith Wellington, Arlen Brenner, Leon Roblyer and Margaret Pavlak.

Friends may visit with her family from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 14, with a Rosary at 5 p.m., at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, Wayland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Wayland, with Father Christian Johnston presiding.

A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at St. Therese. A private interment will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins.

Memorials in Julia’s name may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church Building Fund or Spectrum Hospice.
