Aaron Rewa, age 38, died Wednesday, Aug. 16.

If you met Aaron, he was probably your friend, and you were better for knowing him. An avid game player, he loved Magic the Gathering, yard games, board games (even designing one of his own), card games. He was an excellent guide to help new players learn the ropes with expansive rule explanations and coordinating game time with gatherings for friends and family.

He was an Aaron of all trades who, along with games, loved music, learning, cooking, football (the Lions), the outdoors, and being a father. He could be found foraging leeks and mushrooms for specialty dishes, fishing and capturing all his catches in pictures, whipping up gumbo, and participating in the annual “Mansgiving” each November.

Growing up in a home filled with music, he shared that love with his friends and family. A lifelong lover of music, he played the oboe, was a drum major, and eventually moved on to a metal band with some friends and family.

Aaron was a creative force with imagination. He designed Alison’s wedding ring, amazing Halloween costumes, many wacky Christmas cards, and brought his children’s imaginary friends to life in drawings.

As the at-home parent, he filled Gideon and Evie’s lives with fun, knowledge, and innovation.

Aaron shared many of his interests with Alison. After meeting at their alma mater, Western Michigan University, becoming friends, and falling in love, they went on to marry. Together they built a life filled with love, fun, and laughter. They were true partners and best friends.

Aaron is preceded in death by grandparents Julius and Alyce Rewa. He is survived by wife, Alison Frazier; son, Gideon Rewa; daughter, Evangeline (Evie) Rewa; parents William and Barbara Rewa; grandparents Gerald and Theresa Williams; brothers and sisters-in-law Steven Rewa, David and Kristen Rewa, Kenneth and Abbie Rewa (Kyran and Kaden), Brian and Tessa Rewa (Rosalyn and Josaphine); father- and mother-in-law Pat and Marge Frazier; sisters- and brothers-in-law Charyl and Joe Ward-Mehring, Kristy and Kelly Morrison (Zelda and Walter), Amanda Frazier, Kaitlin Frazier; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at St. Mary’s Visitation Church, 2459 – 146th Ave., Byron Center.
