David Andrew Vogt, age 57, died Saturday, July 26, as a result of a vehicle-pedestrian crash in Salem Township.
After overcoming leukemia at the age of 19 and almost completely losing his vision in separate accidents, he lived day by day, working in his shop, wrenching, and hanging out with his friends. David had vast knowledge of anything with a motor, and if he didn’t know it, he would look it up and read about it until he did! His pride and joy was his ’71 Roadrunner that he had completely restored, down to the nuts and bolts.
He is survived by his siblings Joe Vogt, Bob (Nancy) Vogt, Mike Vogt, Bill (Rhonda) Vogt, Karen (Jim) Bala, Kevin Vogt, Ben (Edwina) Vogt, Mary (Mike) Modreske, Janette (Jim) Jackobs, JoAnn (Tim) Andres, LuAnn (Doug) Rodanhisler, Gloria (Gary) Miller; sister in-law, Dawn Vogt; many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Lucille Vogt; sister, Mary Ann; and brother, Steve.
Rosary will be held at 2 p.m., with visitation following until 4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th St., Dorr. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church, 2459 146th Ave., Byron Center. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
