Mrs. Marcella Marie Doran, age 94, died Sunday, Feb. 19.

Marcella was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Lansing to Ira and Frances Palmiter. After moving to Grand Rapids, she married James Doran and together made their home, for a time in Portage, before settling at Gun Lake for the next 43 years.

SShe stayed very active in her church and was always caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marcella enjoyed sewing and always had a puzzle going… even right to the last moments she spent with her children.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Petkoff, Susan (Michael) Brand, Daniel and Julia Doran, Sandra and Gus Hendrixson, Michael Doran, and Timothy and Judi Doran; grandchildren, Kelly, Andrew, Timothy, Michelle, Amy, Jennifer, Matthew, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Nichole, Sarah, Kendra, Shawna, Amber, Sasha, Chadwick, Renelle, Jessica, Otto, Cheryl, William, and David; 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Lancaster; and cousin, Mary O’Hearn.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, James Doran; sons, John Francis and Thomas James; siblings, Sister Helen Palmiter, Rev. Raymond Palmiter, and Madeline Palmiter; and daughter-in-law, Beth Doran.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Ave. Wayland.  Relatives and friends may meet her family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 312 N. Main St., Wayland and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass. A rosary service will be offered at 7:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
