Richard “Dick” Dale Pitcher Sr., age 73, of Wayland died Sunday, Oct. 16.

Dick worked and retired from Center Manufacturing. In retirement years, he enjoyed being a ranger at Sandy Pines Resort.

Dick enjoyed camping, boating, and spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed woodworking and making lamps for each of his grandchildren. Dick loved people and socializing with them. He often centered his life around family and took on projects, from baseball/softball, volleyball, football, demolition derby cars, or bowling. He made a point to make those his passions as a constant supporter in all their activities.

Dick was always there to offer a helping hand, unfiltered advice, and strong support

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gerda Pitcher; children Richard (Elissa) Pitcher Jr., Jaime (Ryan) Standish, Joseph (Jessica) Pitcher; grandchildren Richard III, Tyler, Bradley, Riley, Skylar, Ryder, Bryce, Eli, Corbin, Garrett; siblings Alice (Edward) Hoffius, Ronald (Ruthanne) Pitcher, Roger (Rene’) Pitcher and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard C. and Frances Pitcher and special daughter, Annelies (nee VanOmmen) Hartman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 20, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St., Wayland, with visitation from 11 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Dick will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery.

In memory of Dick and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or St. Therese Catholic Church.
