Nicholas J. Rewa, age 62, of Dorr, died Sunday, Jan. 20, at Trillium Woods – Faith Hospice facility in Byron Center.

He was a creative inventor and understood the art of repurposing before the rest of the world caught on. He loved the outdoors, working with his hands, problem solving, quoting lines from his favorite movies.

He is survived by his brothers Pat (Marcia) Rewa, Don (Cathy) Rewa, Charlie (Carrie Stoehr) Rewa, Marty (Mary) Rewa; sisters Mary F. Rewa, Katie (Ron) Weber, C. Lee (Mike) Pavlak, Helene (Dan) McNeilly, Therese C. (Mark) Lamport; aunts Florence Squire, Agnes Lenhart, Alyce Rewa; uncle, Garnie Lain and special family friends Kraig and Denise Stephenson. Nick was beloved by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Clare Rewa and his brother-in-law, Christopher Althouse.

His family will greet visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23,  at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Dorr Chapel, 4330 18th St. with a scripture service and shared tributes at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24,  at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen J. Rodrigo and Fr. Christopher Derda presiding. Interment will be at St. Mary’s – New Salem Cemetery.

In memory of Nick, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Visitation Parish or Faith Hospice.
