Ronald Rex Hines, age 90, of Wayland, died Saturday, Feb. 4.
Ronald served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during the Korean War, was awarded “Wayland Veteran of the Year” in 2000 and was an active member of the Wayland VFW Post 7581.
After returning from the war he then worked at Dean Foods formerly known as Pet Milk Company, for 43 years. He was a member of and served as an usher for the St. Therese Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting with family and rooting for the Detroit Tigers throughout his life.
Ronald is survived by his children: Jim (Rhonda) Hines and Julie (Douglas) Ary; grandchildren: Heather (Fianc Matt Racalla), Christian and Hunter Hines, Megan (George) Chittenden, and Michele Ary; brother: Phil (Sonia) Hines; sister Rose Boggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years Adeline (Modreske) Hines, his parents Roy and Ruby Hines, his sister Rita Jean, and his brother Richard.
The family will greet family and friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to mass at the church Thursday. Parish rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Kubiak-Cook funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Charles Fischer as celebrant. Interment in Elmwood Cemetery.
