Donald A. Sevigny, age 88, died Friday, July 18, at his home in Wayland.
Born Sept. 5, 1936, in Detroit, he relocated to Wayland in his youth. Watching him dance with his wife MaryAnne was a pleasure for all to enjoy. He enjoyed camping, NASCAR races, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, golfing, and traveling with family and friends. Donald had a passion for playing cards his entire life, his favorite being euchre.
Don’s legacy as a business owner began early in his life and always included family. He owned gas stations, sold Miracle Maid cookware, was a partner in Sevigny Automotive, operated 7D Fine Foods Restaurant, later taking up trucking, and, in the last few years, starting up a woodshop. His greatest legacy was Greenway Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnne; companion, Helen; parents Lionel and Jeanette Sevigny; brothers Dick, Bill, Jerry, and Ed Sevigny.
He was husband to MaryAnne (Modreske) for 51 years and father to six daughters: Mary Sevigny, Rita (Dave) Yeakey, Patti (Mike) Pittman, Sue (Dave) Holder, Cindy (Roger) VanVolkinburg, and Billie Jo Redder (with special friend, Doug Hoyt). He was grandfather of 12, great-grandfather of 20, great-great-grandfather of two, and many extended grandchildren.
Donald spent the later part of his years with his companion, Helen K. Winnie, whom he jokingly referred to as “Red.”
