Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday for Rose Schumacher

She was born March 31, 1941, the daughter of Alonzo and Margaret (Russell) Whipple. Rose graduated from South High School in 1960. She married Alvin Schumacher in St. Andrews Cathedral, Grand Rapids on April 20, 1963.

Rose was a long standing member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and was a member of St. Monica’s Guild.

Rose is survived by her husband of 53 years, Al; her children Kathy (Fred) Wernette, Al Schumacher Jr., Ken Schumacher, Dave (Carol) Schumacher, Julie (Larry) Zomerlei, Steve (Carrie) Schumacher, Kris Schumacher; her grandchildren of whom she truly cherished and was extremely proud of Joshua (Sara), Ryan, Grant, Luke, Allison, Dustin, David Jr. (Lauren), Samantha, Jordan, Mikayla, Tyler, Lexi (Tim); she was super grandma to her two precious great-grandchildren Isaiah and Dustyn; her brothers Jim, Frank, Dan (Sandy) and Alan Whipple; her sisters Susie (Jack) Nyburg and Lori (Ron) Newcombe; her brother and sisters-in-law Bob and Dick (Nancy) Schumacher, Bernie (Tom) Zomberg, Linda Schumaker along with several nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Rose was preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas Wernette; her siblings and spouses Doris (Louis) Barhitte, Ann, Marilyn and Karol Whipple; Mary Schumacher, Dale (Kathy) Schumaker.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church 1871 136th Avenue, Dorr,. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Rose’s family will meet with friends and relatives from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary being held at 6 pm Monday, Nov. 28, at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home Dorr Chapel – 4330 18th Street, Dorr, and one hour prior to mass Tuesday at the church.

To honor Rose her family requests to have memorial contributions be directed to St. Stanislaus School or Right to Life of Allegan County.
