McDonald’s a no-show, but 2 rezonings recommended

McDonald’s was scheduled to be present for the Dorr Township Planning Commission meeting Tuesday night, but to borrow a phrase from Chico Marx in “Duck Soup” “They no show up.”

However, the commission did recommend the Township Board approve a couple of rezoning requests.

McDonald’s representatives reported they did not have the proper site plan to bring to the meeting, so they will come back for the Oct. 21 meeting.

McDonald’s will present site plan review for its plans to build a restaurant facility to the immediate west of the Hing Long restaurant in the mall anchored by Leppink’s Grocery on 142nd Avenue.

Meanwhile, the commission approved rezoning request by Walnut Dale Family Farms on 144th Avenue not far from Moline Elementary. The request was to change the zoning designation from A Residential to B-1 Residential so that a duplex can be erected on the parcel.

The vote was 6-0, with Commissioner Rebecca Snider absent.

The other request was for rezoning from Kyle Windemuller of Three Winds LLC from F-Agricultural to R-E Rural Estates on a 25-acre parcel. Jason Derry, zoning administrator for Professional Code Inspections (PCI), said the change would enable Windemuller to create larger residential lots and install a private paved road.

The development is located on 22nd Street just north of 144th Avenue.

Though some neighbors expressed concerns about potential water drainage issues, commissioners explained that should be handled by the Allegan County Drain Commission.

The vote on this request again was 6-0.

At the close of the meeting, commissioners held a discussion on perhaps crafting an ordinance amendment requiring concrete curb and gutter doe residential, commercial and industrial developments throughout the township.
